For those we have not yet contacted we have moved to the Victoria Convention Center. As of Dec. 1st 2010, our new address is 740 Douglas St. v8w 3m6, everything else is the same.
The new gallery is a large step forward to show case our Northwest Coast native art collection and North American and the odd item of world tribal art. The move was sudden and for the best. The gallery is better lit and a much more inviting space for the art.Over the last 4 to 6 mouths we have acquired many Northwest Coast items from the 19th century and early 20th century and some potlatch items used in the last 20 years, which instill the fact that this is still a thriving culture. We have acquired a thousand or so year old petroglyph only 400 pounds or so. Also a large Dzunukwa (wild woman) feast dish used to place babies in to be given their traditional names. And as my friend's wife commented, there have been lots of babies in here. Oh! and the bowl was carved by Beau Dick. Well I guess I will let the photos of the new gallery speak for themselves. Yours Thomas and Joyce
PS. I hope to catch up on any delinquent paper work in the month or so.
